Overview

36 hours per week, 12 hour shifts on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (6am to 6pm)

 

The Weekend Shift Manager will manage all the manufacturing operations, from goods in through to dispatch, with emphasis on the shift performance of the Meals production lines.

Safely delivering plan completion; controlling costs with Right First-Time quality and ensuring that the production targets are achieved.

We have a focus on continuous improvement and quality and this role is key to our success in these areas. 

 

This role will be based in in the Meals Department but also oversee all areas of the factory at the weekend.

You will be the most senior person on site at weekends, managing 20+ employees, responding to any incidents, making decisions and communicating across the weekend operation.

 

You will have experience of managing manufacturing units and be logical, self-assured and influence at all levels.

Responsibilities

Manufacturing

  • Oversee and run the weekend shift, ensuring shift performance to KPIs and compliance standards. 
  • Ensure control of quality, quantity and costs.
  • Pro-actively support our Continuous Improvement work (CI)

People

  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of proactive people.
  • Ensure a positive culture through shop-floor presence and staff engagement  
  • All aspects of people management, including one-one’s, reviews of performance, return to work interviews, disciplinary investigations and absence control.
  • Identify and facilitate team members to develop and grow.

Communication and Teamwork

  • Communicate and collaborate with colleagues across the business. 
  • Facilitate communication from the business to the front-line employees
  • Actively encourage feedback from team with open and honest discussions on production targets
  • Keep team members regularly informed of the team’s performance/production target

Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure site compliance with business H&S policies.
  • Conduct accident investigations.
  • Ensure traceability of all materials.
  • Engage with QFSA during Hygiene + Housekeeping audits, agree timescales for corrective actions and deliver on time.
  • Pro-actively work with QFSA to ensure adoption of any changes to the BRCGS std that affect your area, to maintain AA status.

Housekeeping and Hygiene

  • Ensure all operators follow correct personal hygiene procedures (e.g. changing processes, hand washing procedures).
  • Take an active role in implementing 5 S ethos.
  • Actively promote continuous improvement in hygiene standards particularly on product change overs to avoid allergen and component cross contamination.

Qualifications/Personal Qualities

  • Experience of Manufacturing Supervisory role. 
  • FMCG Manufacturing experience would be a benefit
  • Team management experience
