Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Fleet Manager to oversee the management and maintenance of our fleet of over 400 refrigerated vans.

The Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, safety, and compliance of the fleet, while also managing costs and optimising vehicle utilisation. 

This role is crucial to continue our award winning transition towards Net Zero with our expanding fleet of EVs.

 

We have vehicles at our network of depots across the UK and you will support the networks day-to-day operations of the fleet.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers) to manage maintenance, health & safety, compliance standards and costs.

Optimising efficiencies and cost savings will be a key driver for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Fleet Operations Management:  Support the networks day-to-day operations of the fleet, including improving vehicle dispatch, routing, and scheduling to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Coordinate regular maintenance and repairs to ensure all vehicles are in optimal working condition.
  • Compliance and Safety: Working with the relevant teams to ensure all fleet operations comply with relevant regulations and safety standards. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for drivers.
  • Delivering Efficiencies: Develop and manage the fleet budget, including tracking expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with vehicle suppliers, maintenance providers, and other vendors. Supporting purchasing to negotiate contracts and service agreements.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor and analyse fleet performance data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Driver Management: Support the sites to Recruit, train, and supervise drivers supporting any performance or disciplinary issues as needed.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Implement and promote environmentally sustainable practices within the fleet operations.

Qualifications/Personal Qualities

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Fleet Manager or in a similar role, managing a large fleet of vehicles.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management software and tools.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards.
  • Full UK manual driving licence 

Desirable:

  • Certification in Fleet Management or a related field.
  • Experience with environmentally sustainable fleet practices
  • Experience of refrigerated vehicles

Travel across the UK and ROI will be required, including overnight stays. 

A company car is provided to facilitate this. 

You must have held a UK manual driving licence for at least 2 years.
